Course Description

Course Title: Ladder & Stepladder Inspection course

​Cost: £75.00 + VAT per person

Duration: Half Day  Minimum of 4 hours

Start Time: 12 Noon 

Who will benefit from this course:
Those whose duty is to inspect and maintain ladders & stepladders in their workplace
Learning Objectives

Delegates will be competent to:
  • Assess and determine when it’s appropriate to inspect a ladder or stepladder
  • Record finding & recommend action to be taken if faults are found
  • Accurately record details of ladders & stepladders

They will have an understanding of:
  • What they need to know about the law and standards relating to ladders & stepladder
  • Storage & handling of ladders & stepladder
  • Method The course is planned to run over a minimum or 4 hours

Training Activity:
Slide led – trainer providing information and asking questions
A group exercise on inspections & hazard analysis
An individual questionnaire on inspection of Ladders & Stepladders

Assessment Process:
There are assessment activities:
  1. Multiple Choice Questions
  2. Ladder / Stepladders fault finding
  3. Carrying, positioning ladders & stepladders

Assessment:
Closed book course with a pass mark of 80%

PPE:
Suitable head / footwear and gloves during the practical session

Course Content:
Current Legislation, Code of Practice, Regulations and Guidance affecting work at height

Trainer /delegate ratio: Maximum of 1:8

Venue Requirements:
A suitable classroom and practical area to accommodate 8 delegates for the theory and assessment sessions
Supporting Documents Ladder Association summary notes for each delegate

Award: 
Ladder Association certificate and LadderCard will be issued to successful delegates who complete the theory and practical assessment sessions at the level they attend the course. This has a five year validity period

Literacy, fitness & Health:
Delegates must be numerate, literate and have a good command of English. They should be fit and capable of lifting, carrying and manoeuvring ladders and stepladders during the inspection process

Qualifications & experience: Must hold a valid Ladder Association Users certificate and LadderCard to attend this course
